MLB has officially announced its return and will be resuming on July 23 or July 24, playing a 60-game season in 66 days.

As a result of Tuesday's news, Caesars Sportsbook has updated their initial odds for the 2020 World Series winner.

The A's are listed with the eighth-best odds at +2000 ($100 bet wins you $2000).

Meanwhile, all the way down at the bottom of the board are the Giants. They have +25000 odds, tied for the second-worst odds in MLB. The Mariners, Pirates, Royals, Tigers and Marlins join the Giants at +25000.

The Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees sit atop the board as co-favorites at +350. The defending AL champion Houston Astros have the third-best odds at +1100.

Rounding out the top five are the Atlanta Braves and Minnesota Twins both listed at +1500. The defending World Series champion Washington Nationals have the sixth-best odds at +1800.

The worst odds go to the Baltimore Orioles at +50000.

Betting on the favorite with so many variables involved with this season seems like an ill-advised choice. You're better off taking a longshot with so few games to play, especially when you consider the Nationals won the World Series last year, but started off 19-31 through 50 games.

Odds will surely change throughout the year, but even in a shortened season, the books are expecting a down season for the Giants and give the A's a solid shot to win the World Series.
