After lengthy negotiations and threats of canceled games, MLB and the MLBPA came to an agreement, ending the lockout.

The first domino has fallen in the Athletics' presumed fire sale.

Oakland traded starting pitcher Chris Bassitt to the New York Mets on Saturday in exchange for two right-handed pitching prospects, J.T. Ginn and Adam Oller.

Bassitt, a first-time American League All-Star last season for Oakland, has helped anchor the A's rotation the past two seasons alongside fellow ace Sean Manaea, who is also likely to be traded this offseason

In 2021, Bassitt posted a record of 12-4 with a 3.15 ERA in 157 1/3 innings pitched while striking out 157 batters and walking just 39.

He made 27 starts, missing time in the second half of the season after taking a comebacker to the face on Aug. 17 and undergoing facial surgery.

Ginn, a second-round pick by the Mets in 2020, is currently ranked as New York's fifth-best prospect, according to MLB.com. The 22-year-old split his debut professional season in 2021 between Low-A St. Lucie and High-A Brooklyn and logged a combined 3.03 ERA and 81 strikeouts in 92 innings (18 starts).
