Sean Murphy’s power continued to show at the plate as he went 2-for-3 with a home run in the A's 6-0 win over the Houston Astros on Monday night at the Oakland Coliseum.
“Finding his way, you know after a little bit of a slow start earlier, but he’s always one swing away from hitting a homer, he hit one the last couple of days, the most impressive at-bat for me, was the last one,” A’s manager Bob Melvin said after the game.
Murphy homered for the second straight game and finished his night against the Astros with a single to knock in a pair of runs.

Melvin liked what he saw.
“He’s not trying to do too much -- at-bats like that are going to be huge,” Melvin added.
Murphy said after the game he’s improved with his plate approach partly by making contact with pitches he originally would be fouling off. And his power, well, that was never in question.
“I’ve been doing that a lot, it’s been frustrating, so it’s nice to square them up when you get them,” Murphy said.

The rookie catcher also graduated from prospect school. He exceeded prospect limits by reaching 130 career at-bats.
Those keeping track will have to update your lists -- a situation he could be OK with.
He spoke to NBC Sports California during spring training and mentioned he was not a fan of these prospect lists.

"People who write those top prospect lists, don't write the lineup cards, so it makes no difference whether you're a top prospect or not one at all," Murphy said on March 1.
He doesn’t have to worry about that anymore.
