Giants broadcaster Duane Kuiper joined Alex Pavlovic and Cole Kuiper on the Giants Talk podcast to discuss Marco Luciano and what stands out about the 19-year-old prospect.
Marco Luciano was supposed to be the talk of the town with a handful of Giants top prospects invited to big league camp this year. While he has turned heads with his size and tools, Heliot Ramos has stolen the spotlight in Scottsdale.
Ramos, 21, survived the Giants' first cuts of spring on Monday as he continues to crush the ball. Entering Tuesday, he's hitting .435 with three home runs and a 1.328 OPS in 10 games. He hasn't been a one-trick pony at the plate, impressing general manager Scott Harris on a daily basis.
“All of Heliot’s tools have impressed us in major league camp, especially his power to all fields," Harris said to The Athletic's Jim Bowden. "He has some development left with his limited reps above A-ball, but we’re excited to watch his progress this year.”

Ramos has gone deep to left and right field this spring, showcasing his power all across the field.
The stout center fielder hit 16 homers between Single-A and Double-A in 2019, and looks bigger and strong in camp this year. Through his three-year minor league career, Ramos has 33 homers and a .462 slugging percentage. But it's easy to forget just how young he is.

While it's clear Ramos has power, his ability to hit the long ball should become more consistent in the coming years. As Harris noted, the most impressive part is that he isn't just a pull-hitter with power at his young age. He could be the rare right-handed bat to hit an opposite-field homer at Oracle Park and even launch one over the wall in Triples Alley.
Though Ramos likely won't make the Giants' Opening Day roster, it's clear he's on the fast track to San Francisco. Even if he starts the season in Double-A Richmond, if he hits like this, Giants fans will be seeing him soon this season.
