Giants starter Carlos Rodon had a record debut Saturday, tying the franchise record for strikeouts in a San Francisco Giants debut with twelve.

Carlos Rodon made quite the first impression in his debut with the Giants.

In five innings of work against the Miami Marlins at Oracle Park, Rodon struck out 12 batters, tying the Giants team record for most strikeouts in a debut since the franchise moved to San Francisco in 1958.

Rodon cruised through four innings before running into trouble in the fifth. He finished the inning and his outing with his 12th strikeout of the afternoon.

Finishing fifth in the AL Cy Young award voting last season, Rodon averaged 12.5 strikeouts-per-nine innings, the second-best mark in baseball behind NL Cy Young award winner Corbin Burnes (12.6).
