The Oakland A’s have created themselves a problem. Since the "Kelly Green" alternate jerseys were introduced in 2018, their popularity during Friday night home games has been beyond tangible.
It's gotten to the point where Friday nights are not enough anymore. I’m here to suggest “Kelly Green Weekends” at the Coliseum.
When asked about the jerseys last month, all of the A's plays were in agreement: They're the best.
First baseman Matt Olson described the tops as “perfect."

Sean Manaea used a few more words: “Fire. Those things are the best … nasty.”
Matt Chapman’s assessment: “Perfect. Love them. I think we should bring them on the road.”
Marcus Semien, who grew up in the Bay Area, agreed: “It’s Oakland on the front. You get to represent Oakland at home, it’s awesome.”
In fairness, jersey choice hasn’t always lined up with superstition.

According to sportslogos.net, the A’s were 8-5 in 2018 wearing the Kelly Green jerseys, and 12-12 last season. In 2019, they actually wore the jerseys on other days of the week (13 times) more than Fridays (11 times).

If more Kelly Green isn’t in the cards, maybe a different color is -- one they haven’t worn since 2018.
“I want to bring back our gold tops, too,” Chapman said. “You heard it here first.”
