The Warriors' upcoming matchup with the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday, Feb. 8, at Moda Center is more than just another regular season game for Klay Thompson.
Speaking on "Warriors Postgame Live" after the Warriors' 141-114 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder, Thompson explained to Kerith Burke, Chris Mullin and Festus Ezeli what it means to play in Portland on his 33rd birthday.
"I'm so excited to play in front of my family," Thompson shared. "Just the narrative of playing in the Rose Garden where I grew up watching the Blazers, watching Kobe [Bryant] come to town, got to see [Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen] when I was really little, I'm just so excited to go back and it's really a dream.
"And to be able to play on my birthday, in the place where I was raised, where I fell in love with the game, I couldn't ask for a better story."
Born in Los Angeles, Calif., Thompson and his family moved to Oregon when he was two. The Warriors' star stayed in Oregon until he was 14 when the Thompsons moved to Orange County, Calif.
In the 14 games Thompson has played in Portland, the Warriors star is averaging 22.9 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game against the Trail Blazers. Thompson also has shot the ball well during those matchups, failing to hit 45 percent of his shots in just four games.

With Steph Curry expected to miss a few weeks with a lower leg injury, Warriors fans hope to see Thompson put on a show as he did against the Thunder.
And considering his track record in Portland, Thompson might be in for another big night in front of his family.
