The late Kobe Bryant is revered by this generation of NBA players, so when any of them achieve a feat he accomplished, break one of his records or pass him in a stat category, it's special for them.
For Warriors star Klay Thompson, there is no bigger basketball figure in his life than Kobe, who tragically died with his daughter Gianna and seven others a little over two years ago in a helicopter crash in Southern California.
Kobe is Klay's basketball idol, and on Thursday, he passed the Black Mamba on the NBA's all-time 3-point list in the Warriors' 126-114 win over the Kings at Chase Center.

"Always a huge honor," Thompson told reporters after the game. "I miss him so much. He was 1-of-1. He's my biggest inspiration for playing basketball. We really miss him and Gigi."
Thompson entered the game against the Kings needing five 3-pointers to tie Kobe, and he took care of business in the first half, as he made six 3-pointers before halftime.
Thompson went on to make one more 3-pointer in the second half, so he sits at 1,829, now two ahead of Bryant.

Based on how Thompson answered the question after the game, it's clear that passing Bryant on any all-time list isn't something he takes for granted.
