Klay Thompson's road to recovery has certainly been a long one.
Missing the previous two seasons due to knee and Achilles injuries, the light is finally at the end of the tunnel. Throughout his rehab, there have been two mementos from his pre-injury playing days that have been by his side these past two years.
His Harlem Globetrotters basketball, and that iconic yellow headband.

Klay sat down with NBC Sports Bay Area's Kerith Burke at Warriors Media Day, where he explained on the Dubs Talk Podcast why those two objects have followed him around throughout his rehab.
“This ball was given to me by a few [Harlem] Globetrotters players back in the 2018-19 season," Thompson said. "She’s been with me my whole rehab for two years. It’s got a lot of magic powers in it. I just love the colors of it too, this ball reveals if you’re a good shooter or not, because of the backspin. It’s so pretty when you see her spinning.”
You may recognize the yellow headband from one of Klay's most iconic performances. Against the Chicago Bulls on Oct. 29, 2018, Thompson set a new single-game NBA record with 14 3-pointers while hearing the headband.

Does the headband have magic powers too? If so, is Klay a little superstitious for carrying around the Globetrotters ball and wearing the headband as he prepares to make his long-awaited return this season?
“A little bit," Thompson said. "I watch a lot of baseball, and I picked that up from baseball -- very superstitious. I like to do things that feel good. Last time I wore this headband, I was able to break a record, so hopefully, I can carry that same momentum into this season."
It remains unclear when exactly Thompson will return to the court, even though there have been reports that the Warriors are targeting a Christmas Day return.
On Thursday afternoon, Stadium's Shams Charania reported that Thompson could be cleared for full practice "over the next month or so."
