Steph loved Olympics trash talk, inspired for 2024 Games

Steph Curry got to be a fan this summer, watching former and current teammates Kevin Durant and Draymond Green bring home the gold medal for Team USA at the Olympics.

Curry -- who opted not to join the Olympic team this summer -- enjoyed watching some of the league's best players compete against top-tier talent around the world.

After a rough start in the exhibition series leading up to the Olympics, Team USA eventually found its groove. The disappointing start was quickly erased one game at a time.

“Once they got to Tokyo, it was kind of fun to watch them kind of just shut everybody up one game at a time,” Curry told The Athletic's Tim Kawakami. “Seemed like they didn’t talk too much throughout the process. But then when they got to the podium, it was on.

"And I loved all the chatter afterwards. It was well deserved. Just fun to watch guys put everything else away and just go hoop. They earned every bit of that platform to talk trash, talk s--t to everybody. I loved it.”

After watching the success Team USA had overseas, did it lead Curry to think about potentially representing the United States at the 2024 Olympics in Paris?

“Oh, all day,” Curry said.

Curry decided not to join Team USA in 2016 after battling injuries all season and came to a similar decision this year as well.

“Obviously you want to be, again, in a position where you can hopefully make a decision whether you want to play or not,” Curry explained. “And with everything that happened, this year just was not the right time. There’s no regrets on that.

“(But) it’s only a three-year wait now instead of four. So we’ll see what happens.”

It doesn't seem like Curry will be slowing down any time soon, which should present him with another opportunity to bring home to the gold himself one day.
