Bradley Beal has paced the NBA in points per game for much of the 2020-21 NBA season, but Steph Curry surpassed him after the Warriors star scored 49 points in a 107-96 win over the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday night.
Curry's near 50-burger pushed his season scoring average up four-tenths of a point to 31.4, edging out Beal's 31.0.

Steph is on a hot streak unlike any in his illustrious NBA career, posting his 11th consecutive 30-plus point game in the win over the 76ers. That set a new NBA record for players 33 years or older, passing Kobe Bryant.
Curry leaping Beal in scoring average adds a layer of intrigue to the Warriors' next game, when they happen to play the Washington Wizards and Beal in the nation's nation's capital.
The two-time NBA MVP was asked following the Warriors' win over the Oklahoma City Thunder last week about potentially capturing his second scoring title, and while he isn't pressing for it, he said being the league's leading scorer would "mean something."
"That was cool for sure," Curry explained. "You want to check that off the box as something you accomplished. There are so many great scorers in this league, and to do it consistently night after night -- do it the full length of the season -- that does mean something.
