Steph wearing custom shoes vs. Hawks to support Asian community

Share

Steph Curry is expected to play Sunday in Atlanta, and the Warriors star will have a special pair of shoes on his feet.

Curry partnered with the Bruce Lee Foundation to create a custom pair of Curry 8s that will show support for the victims and their families of those who were affected from March's tragic shootings in Atlanta throughout three spas that left eight people dead, six of whom were of Asian descent. The sneakers will be hand-painted yellow and black and will feature Lee. Curry and the Bruce Lee Foundation plan to auction the game-worn sneakers in the coming weeks and will work with an organization to disburse all of the proceeds to the families of each of the eight victims.

Here is the Lee quote that will be featured on Curry's shoes against the Atlanta Hawks and how they will look.

"I think Stephen’s gesture is a beautiful example of allyship and solidarity in action,” Shannon Lee, CEO of the Bruce Lee Family Companies and chairperson of the board of directors for the Bruce Lee Foundation, said to The Undefeated's Nick DePaula. “I am honored he would choose my father and my family as the symbol for the idea that we are all one family, as my father said, and therefore must all stand for one another.”

Curry told DePaula he has been a longtime admirer of Lee and his teachings. He believes these shoes not only will help support the victims and families of a horrible day, but inspire people to learn more about Lee's philosophies and live by his teachings.
