Steph's endearing answer to Charlotte crowd about hometown Hornets

Even 3,000 miles away, Steph Curry will forever be loved and adored by his Davidson College family in Charlotte.

And the feeling is very, very mutual.

Fresh off receiving his college degree, being inducted into the Davidson Hall of Fame and becoming the first person to have his number retired at Davidson College, Curry became just one of three people to receive a key to the city of Charlotte.

While Curry has made it clear that he would like to retire as a Warrior, the reigning NBA Finals MVP had a heartwarming interaction with the Charlotte community on Thursday that teased their imagination a bit.

“This honor and this award -- I’ve always said I want to finish my career at Golden State because of how much it means to me,” Curry started. “The experiences, the teammates and the journey from then on, everybody ask me, ‘Oh you don’t want to play one year for the [Charlotte] Hornets and come back?’"

And before he could even take another breath, the room filled with loud applause and hopeful cheer.

After getting a few chuckles out himself, Curry had to make himself clear.

“Oh no, no, no. I am not breaking any news right now,” Curry said. “I’m not making any promises. All I would say is if there was a team that I did want to play for that was not named the Warriors, that would be it. That’s all I can say about that.”

Sorry Adrian Wojnarowski, but a Woj bomb isn't necessary right now.

And regardless of whether Curry will ever put on a Hornets jersey or not, his legacy at Davidson -- and in Charlotte -- is forever sealed.
