Thomas feeling Bay Area love amid reported Warriors workout

In search of a player to fill the 15th roster spot, the Warriors reportedly are bringing in several veterans free agents this week for workouts in San Francisco.

Among the group is former two-time NBA All-Star Isaiah Thomas, and it appears he already is in the Bay Area and the reception is nothing but positive.

The Undefeated's Marc J. Spears reported Monday, citing sources, that the Warriors would be working out Thomas, Avery Bradley, former Warriors guard Quinn Cook, and other players.

Spears reported that the Warriors want to add a center and two guards to the roster before training camp begins next week.

Thomas famously was the final pick of the 2011 NBA Draft by the Sacramento Kings and then turned himself into an All-Star while with the Boston Celtics in 2015-16 and 2016-17.

Thomas was on the verge of a major payday until injuries derailed those dreams. Following the 2017 season, the Celtics traded Thomas to the Cleveland Cavaliers in a deal that sent Kyrie Irving back to Boston.

Thomas played in just 15 games during the 2017-18 season with the Cavaliers, and since then, he has bounced from the Los Angeles Lakers to the Denver Nuggets to the Washington Wizards, and finally the New Orleans Pelicans last season, where he appeared in just three games.

While finding a center might be a bigger priority for the Warriors, they could use a true point guard on the depth chart. They have plenty of players who can handle the ball when Steph Curry rests, but Thomas in his prime was capable of running the show for long stretches at a time.

If Thomas can show the Warriors that he's healthy, he could get the chance to revive his NBA career in the Bay Area. Those sneaker shop recommendations could come in handy if he latches on with Golden State.
