What Oubre learned most from Steph, Draymond with Warriors

Josh Schrock joined Kendra Andrews and Grant Liffmann on the latest episode of Dubs Talk to explore the scenarios of Kelly Oubre Jr. agreeing to a sign-and-trade deal or returning to the Warriors.

Kelly Oubre Jr.'s future in Golden State remains murky, at best.

But, no matter what happens during the offseason and where Oubre lands for next season, he'll take some lessons he learned from the Warriors -- specifically Steph Curry and Draymond Green -- with him.

"I learned professionalism to the core," Oubre told The Athletic and Stadium's Shams Charania.

"These guys have a résuméthat speaks for itself, so being able to be around those guys for a whole season and watch how they move, how they operate within the confines of the NBA, the professionalism that they ensure, I think that's something I can jot down in my own notebook and respect those guys forever for."

Oubre joined the Warriors last fall in a quick pivot move after Klay Thompson tore his Achilles just before the start of training camp. His season was rocky. Oubre started out on a historically slow skid, but managed to rebound throughout the season, showing promise through his athleticism and defense, before tearing a ligament in his left hand which ended his season early.

Still, Oubre's good moments were enough to suggest he would be a good tool for the Warriors off the bench once Thompson returned. But, that's where the next round of rockiness comes: Oubre doesn't see himself as a bench player. He doesn't want to be one, as he explained to Yahoo Sports' Chris Haynes.

But, nothing is decided as of now, and Oubre is still a member of the Warriors. Whether he is still on the roster by the start of next season is still to be determined, but either way, there is respect there for his current teammates that won't be diminished.

"They have those championships for a reason," Oubre told Charania. "It's the work ethic, it's the mentality each and every day, it's us versus them. It's us versus the world. That's the mindset you have to have with everything in life. I'm just blessed to have crossed paths with those guys and to know them as individuals."
