Kings fan uses ‘Light the Beam!' chant in his wedding vows

A fan's passion for their sports team knows no bounds. It even crosses into the bonds of marriage.

Many Kings fans are jumping on the "Light the Beam" movement, as the team hopes to end its 16-year playoff drought this season and is firing off a victory beam from atop Golden 1 Center after each win. The mantra -- which fans often chant at home or even on the road as the Kings wrap up a win -- is taking on a life of its own, so naturally, one groom recently inserted the popular phrase into his wedding vows.

"So from here on out, let's continue to light the beam," the groom told his bride, who proceeded to let out a little laugh behind the smile.

The mantra appearing in a fan's wedding vows shouldn't be surprising. The beam also showed up on Google Maps, where it's labeled as a place of worship.

While Kings owner Vivek Ranadivé wanted the beam to be seen by everyone -- including aliens -- he might not have expected "Light the Beam!" to become an expression that fans use on the most important days of their lives.
