NBA Twitter torn after Kings take Murray over Ivey at No. 4

The Sacramento Kings selected Iowa’s Keegan Murray with the 4th overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. The All-American forward led the NCAA in points scored last season.

The Kings got their guy, selecting Iowa Hawkeyes forward Keegan Murray with the No. 4 pick in the 2022 NBA Draft.

It was reported on Monday by The Athletic's Shams Charania that Kings owner Vivek Ranadivé was a "big fan" of Murray, providing an early indication that Sacramento might choose Murray over Purdue guard Jaden Ivey.

After Murray's name was called by commissioner Adam Silver, NBA Twitter wasted no time reacting to the pick. As you can imagine, the reviews were mixed, with many clamoring for Purdue's Jaden Ivey, who went No. 5 to the Detroit Pistons.

Playing two seasons at Iowa, Murray averaged 23.5 points per game, 8.7 rebounds on 55 percent shooting from the field and 39 percent from 3-point range in a 2021-22 season that earned him All-Big Ten and Consensus All-American honors.

It remains to be seen how Murray will fit with the Kings, but he will join a core that already features star point guard De'Aaron Fox, second-year guard Davion Mitchell and two-time NBA All-Star Domantas Sabonis.

With Summer League action underway starting on July 7, Kings fans likely won't have to wait long to see Murray in action.
