Giants outfielder Nate Schierholtz was scheduled for X-rays on his right foot, which was struck by a foul ball on Monday night. Schierholtz snapped a 2-2 tie with his homer to right in the sixth against Atlanta. It was his ninth home run of the season.
Also on the injury front, infielder Jeff Keppinger will get an MRI on his wrist. He jammed it in collision with Atlanta's Freddie Freeman in Monday night's 5-4 defeat.
The Giants bench will be quiet today, as Aaron Rowand is also out with a strained intercostal (side) muscle, according to the San Jose Mercury News.
