What to Know
- The 49ers move to 5-4 with a thrilling 23-20 win over the Buccaneers (4-6). Kicker Jake Moody missed three field goals during the game but got redemption by making a 44-yard kick as time expired in regulation.
- Running back Christian McCaffrey made an impact in his 2024 NFL season debut, but it wasn't on the ground. The 2023 NFL Offensive Player of the Year carried by ball 13 times for 39 yards, but had six receptions for 68 yards.
- Quarterback Brock Purdy completed 25 of 36 passes for 353 yards and two touchdowns. He didn't throw any interceptions. The 24-year-old also scrambled four times for 17 yards. He was sacked three times for a loss of 15 yards.
- Rookie Ricky Pearsall got the 49ers on the board in the first quarter with a 46-yard touchdown reception, his first score in the NFL.
- Wide receiver Deebo Samuel caught five passes for 62 yards and ran the ball three times for 14 yards.
- Tight end George Kittle caught three passes for 57 yards, including an incredible touchdown reception in the back of the end zone after Purdy scrambled and bought time.
- Edge rusher Nick Bosa and defensive tackle Maliek Collins each recorded a sack for the 49ers.
