Armstead's contract with the Jaguars is for three years and $51 million, Bleacher Report's Jordan Schultz reported shortly after news of the agreement, citing sources.
Armstead spent nine seasons with the 49ers and was the longest-tenured player on the roster before his release Wednesday. The transaction resulted in a less-than-enthused response from wide receiver Deebo Samuel on social media.
The Oregon product lined up at both defensive tackle and defensive end over the years for San Francisco, and was willing to play wherever the team needed him most. In 116 games (97 starts) with the 49ers, Armstead recorded 33.5 sacks, 302 combined tackles, 43 tackles for loss, 88 quarterback hits, three forced fumbles and six passes defensed.

Armstead currently has the second-most playoff sacks (8) in 49ers franchise history behind former teammate Nick Bosa (10). The 30-year-old also became an important figure in local Bay Area and Sacramento communities and was San Francisco's Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year nominee in each of the past four seasons.
Now Armstead will reunite with former 49ers and current Jaguars general manager Trent Baalke, who selected him with the No. 17 overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft and will help anchor a young Jacksonville defensive line.
