Thornton spent 15 seasons with San Jose, and although the Sharks never won the big prize during his time in the Bay, Sharks fans are forever grateful to Jumbo Joe.
And that certainly showed on Tuesday.
After the video, Thornton skated around his former rink and waved at fans, soaking in all the emotions.
But those emotions quickly faded once the puck was dropped and the clock started.
Thornton continued his 24th NHL season after signing a one-year contract with the Panthers last August.
